Guest Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 Good morning all. I have a question on shipping wiehgts. It seems like when I am testing my store and I get to the shipping module that the weights for my products is wrong and I am trying to figure out why. Can someone tell me the right why to specify the weights in the attributes for each product for example if i am going to sell a shirt that weighs 10 ounces what is the approperiate input for that weight in oscommerce? Thanks for any help that you can provide to me. -Pete Quote
vicCon Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 once won't work, you have to use KG, things like 0.10, and when calculate, it will appear as "shipping weight 0.1KG" things like that. Quote
vicCon Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 sorry I forgot, I change from LB to KG myself, because my site is multi language. it should come to LB in English, but most of languages use KG. Quote
TerryK Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I wonder if your weight is off because of the default Package Tare Weight of '3' that is set in your store's Admin -> My Store -> Shipping and Packaging section. That seems to be the most common reason for weight variance. (I've set mine at '0' and factor the packaging into each product.) Shipping from Canada, we use grams and kilograms for shipping weights instead of ounces and pounds. I set all of my weights in grams (1000 grams = 1 kilogram). A typical CD, for example, weighs 130 grams. I then set my maximum package weight to 5000 (grams -- 5kg), and in my store's Shipping section, I provide a brief 'tutorial' about conversion from grams to kilograms, as well as to pounds.
