Hi,

I've been developing a site and would really appreciate some feedback from a usablitly/functional point of view. It still looks very OSC so any idea on how to break away from that with minimal design experience would be good.

In particular many of the products have streaming video to watch, i'd really like to know if this loads and plays without problem for many of you.

You will get asked for a username and password to enter site, username = test password = tester

Thanks for you help in advance the url is here

Although it's a simple site, but i feel pretty comfortable when i see it, perhaps the color made me feeling food and it matches the chemical stuff... ;) :D

i don't understand what about the meta data...do you mean something like meta tag stuff???

OS-commerce is great, but with other magical contributions, that is just so "COOL"!

i clicked on your site, it asks for a username and password, that needs to be removed to be viewed properly.

Hi Mibble,

Yes the username and password were mentioned above, test and tester.

I put these on because I dont want any search engines to index it as its only my dev site.

Any how I'd really like your opinion mibble so please have a look. Esp re the product videos.

Ps. I've switched hosts and EP now works!

Thanks,

Hi Damo,

The streaming video requires the MS Media Player plugin for mozilla, so I had to pass on seeing the videos.

I'm not sure why you have the 5 thumbnails at the upper-right linking to the homepage. Are they going to link to catagories?

Overall though, the site looks good to me; maybe just changing the button color to match the lighter blue would be helpful.

Yes, its wmv - I figured this would be the best format for the widest coverage - perhaps I am wrong?

I just needed to put something there to balance the page. Not sure what to do with them - not enough of them to link to categories. Maybe they shouldnt be links at all.

On my list of things to do!

Thanks!

Any more for any more?!

Would really appreciate peoples thoughts on the compatabiltiy/speed of product videos. Go graffiti product -> graffitol -> product video for and example.

Thanks,

Videos stream well. Compression is good, audio is a bit hard to make out due to low bitrate encoding.

I have used wma streams on osC sites in the past with good results. wma is a pretty safe bet for the largest % of compatability, you're right. Most buyers will be using IE which comes default with the wma plug-in.

I love mozilla, and I am not a huge fan of windows platforms, but when it comes to what are your buyers going to be using- wma is the way to go.

My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you.

You could always place a downlaod link for the necessary plug-in somewhere easily noitcable in relation to the videos. That way if someone is lacking the plug-in, they don't have to hunt to check out your vids.

Yeah I figured WMV would be best.

Re. audio quality - I'm actually recompressing the original videos at a slightly higher audio bit rate which improves sound quality quite a lot and has negligable affect on file size.

Re. link to WMV - I''ll try to build that into the play so that if it cant find the plugin it will display the link. No idea how! Something for me to figure out there....

Cheers
