drfunk Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 Hi, I have an option to pay by credit card or by money order. When the customer pays by credit card, i need to be able to add an additional 5% on the total price and have it displayed to the user at the confirmation page where all the totals are displayed as well. Can anyone show me where I can do that and how I can have it displayed on the confirmation page with all the rest of the prices being displayed as well? Thanks I'm an Idiot !
GraphicsGuy Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 You might take a look at: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1306 But also, keep in mind that depending on your locale, it may be against MC/Visa rules to charge a surcharge. You will want to check your merchant account agreement, or if you are using a third party processor (PayPal, 2Checkout, etc) check their Terms of Service. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
vasttech Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Definitely check your merchant account agreement. In the US, all credit card companies have a policy against charging extra for using a credit card. This includes PayPal. The way around it is to raise your prices and offer a discount if paying by money order. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
Acheron Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Unless of course you're the government, in which case you can do any damn thing you please. Just one of many examples .... Section 215.322(5), Florida Statutes, authorizes local governments to impose a surcharge in a sufficient amount to pay the service fee charges imposed by a card company or financial institution when a credit card or debit card is used by a person for the payment of taxes, fees, fines, penalties, court-ordered payments, court costs or other statutorily prescribed revenues.
