buyitpc1 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Hi- I'm getting this message when I start up oscommerce, how do I fix this problem? Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /www/o/s/oshasafetymanual.com/htdocs/osCommerce/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. David -

buyitpc1 Posted June 24, 2004 Author Posted June 24, 2004 Hi Rob! I tired changing the permission from 644 to 444, I saved it and still it defaults back to 644, who do I get support for this problem!? Please?! Dave
RObW Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Dave, You should ask your hosting provider how to set the permission (644 is ok) and make it stick. Cheers Rob Ps - I see you have two threads open on this - pls try not to double post.
buyitpc1 Posted June 24, 2004 Author Posted June 24, 2004 Sorry, I wrote it up incorrectly at first, at least I thought, sorry! Will inquire with them! Dave
241 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 If your files are reverting to 644 this would indicate that the host provider does not allow chmod to 444 for security reasons. No this does not mean that 444 is unsecure just that your host provider does not allow users to chmod 444 which is a read only state. Sometimes where this is the case they also do not allow to chmod 777 all rights to all things. Both cases require contact with the host provider to get the permissions set for you.
