way2savory Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 okay. First- the thing didnt want to auto install because my root path was a tricky one. so i had to install without sample sql. I then added the oscommerce.sql and THEN had some chmodd guessing games(LOL) Just for reference what should my files be chmodded at? I get this error when trying to connect to the db through www.savorywholesale.com/catalog/admin/index.php  Unable to connect to database server! I have configured the /includes/configure.php file . could there be somethign i have done wrong in that file? Why can the catalog be without errors(to my untrained eye) but not even be able to connect via admin panel? Thanks in advance!

The admin section and the catalog section use different config.php files so yes one can be working fine and the other can not work at all. I would compare the database information in the two files and see where you admin config is incorrect and make your changes. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

I got it to connect to the DB now, i have a different problem with my file paths, like when i click on something in admin i can tell the url isnt right at the top. part of the problemis/was the backslashes were either supposed to or not supposed to be included int he server name 'http://www.savorywholesale.com/' the admin panel is still up if anyone would liek to try it. Thanks again for any help!
