CentralMass Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I have a site that is loading really slow. The problem is the index.php that seems to be making a query for every catagory. Does anyone know of a workaround to keep this from making thousands of queries? Need Hosting? Just ask!
Guest Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 loaded fine with your domai link. now, for your signature, against the rules to list your domain name there, also posting commercial advertisements (oscommerce hosting).
CentralMass Posted June 23, 2004 Author Posted June 23, 2004 I will remove the signature...' but the site is not my listed www link trust me it doesn't load fine, it takes over one minute. Any thoughts on how to speed it up? Need Hosting? Just ask!
Guest Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 without the link so i can run a test on it, not much anyone can do to helpy ou speed it up. it could be how you setup the database and attributes, or a contribution is filling the sql database with tons of stuff, etc. check your server access and error logs, turn on sql logging in the admin area,
CentralMass Posted June 24, 2004 Author Posted June 24, 2004 we know what the problem is, the categories are loading via the index.php page, but we are using sts, so that is not necessary, is there a workaround for this? Need Hosting? Just ask!
Altec Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 have you tried this contribution http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ons,1862/page,5 Its not a computer its a life management system!
CentralMass Posted June 28, 2004 Author Posted June 28, 2004 altec, I don't have this one, I do have others. We will try this. Thanks for the heads up. Need Hosting? Just ask!
burt Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 I ran some benchmarks using BTS, STS and none, on a database with around 500 products, and 50 or so categories. BTS was fastest Closely followed by "none" (standard Oscommerce) STS lagged way behind, by a considerable margin. I'm certainly no expert with STS, but from my testing it looks as though the time lag is due to STS "caching" the page before displaying it. I'd advise you to try the same database on a "normal" install of Oscommerce and see if there is an improvement. hth
CentralMass Posted June 28, 2004 Author Posted June 28, 2004 thanks, gary... we did find an issue this weekend in STS, where it seems to duplicate the category building. will check into this as well, thanks. Need Hosting? Just ask!
