dno Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I have not done any work to my store in a couple of days, and everything was working fine yesterday morning. Last night when I hit the site I got an error message at the top of the page that my inludes/configure.php file was writeable and that was a security risk (by the way bad place to put that message) I changed the permission on it and did not give it a thought. When I got back to my office this afternoon I got a message from a customer that they could not follow any of the links. I'm now getting a message that says "No Input File Specified" when I click on any of the categories. This same problem also occured in my test location which is a different domain but they are located on the same server at my hosting provider. You can see the site at www.puxtradingpost.com. I can't find any problems with the actual files. Has anywone seen this problem and can tell me what to do to fix it. Keep in mind I have done nothing new to either the test site or the public site. I believe I'm using oscommerce 2.2 ms2 if that helps. Any light anyone could shed would be greatly appreciated, I also sent a message to my hosting provider on the chance they did something. Thanks

dno Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 Thanks Steve, I appreciate it, that seems to get me working at least, I will just have to go back and change the banner links manually and of course the froogle links. Do you know why the search freindly links would suddenly stop working? It had been working pretty well and I liked the idea of URLs that were were "search frienldy" Once again Steve thank you!!!
jknacnud Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Thanks, that fixed my problem too. How did that get changed? Hmmm... Jonathan Duncan JKD Web Magic Web Site Hosting and Design http://www.jkdwebmagic.com/
jknacnud Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Actually, my partner just told me that that setting ("Use Search-Engine Safe URLs (still in development)") has been enabled for months and is the reason that Google is finding us. By changing that setting, am I causing problems for myself on the search engines? I have another site that is using the exact same setup and that setting is enabled and the site is working fine. Could the "no input file specified" be caused by something else? Jonathan Duncan JKD Web Magic Web Site Hosting and Design http://www.jkdwebmagic.com/

jknacnud Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 maybe in combination with caching ? and google indexes the normal pages just fine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What would be caching to cause this problem? So that setting really is not Search Engine friendly? Why is it even there? It is possible that our site just happened to start getting better ratings around the same time that my partner turned that setting on. Perhaps it really does nothing. From a technical perspective I can see nothing wrong with the normal URL's, so I am confused as to why that Search Engine friendly setting should even hint at helping search engines.
