damo2576 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Hi, I'll be migrating my test OSC site to a live server soon. I'm imagining the process should be as straight forward as: - copying all the files across - updating configure.php's - restoring the database on live from the backup of test Anyone else been through this process? Have I thoght of everything? Thanks in advance, Damo
DrumrLC Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I've changed servers about 4 times. That looks about right to me. If thats not it, you'll find out REAL quick
damo2576 Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 One quick thing I've thought of as I've never done it before.... Say you've altered or added tables to your test version of the OSC db, when you back up that and restore it into a fresh install of OSC do all the db changes get implemented? I'm asking as I've used a few contribs that modify some table and also add some tables. Thanks, Damo
KennethS Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 If you backup your DB then restore it to a fresh install yes all will get implemented. Kenneth S -------------- Customer "Are you a real programmer?" Me "No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night"
newdles Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 The only thing you'd possibly have to worry about is permissions. Might have to chmod a few files and directories again but that isn't major.
