pc1 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Hello, I am using osCommerce 2.2 Milestone 2. I think i found a problem/bug that nobody put attention. When you adding a special item you choose an item, price and date. Then you click the Add button and the product become special. That is working great. The problem begin here: you choose an item, price, date and then you click the Add button several times quickly (until you get the next page). The result is, for example, if I clicked quickly 8 times at the Add button, i will see the same product 8 times in the specials page and in the subcategory page. You can see what i am talking about here (the same product shown 8 times): http://www.pc1.co.il/specials.php http://www.pc1.co.il/index.php?cPath=2_19 Thank you for helping
GraphicsGuy Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I don't think I agree with the conclusion that it's a bug. It is simply doing exactly what you are instructing it to. Why would you want to repeatedly click the button? Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
pc1 Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 I don't think I agree with the conclusion that it's a bug. It is simply doing exactly what you are instructing it to. I do not agree with you. Getting the same product ID 8 times in the specials page and in the same subcategory- it is not logically. It shuld be exactly like when you trying to copy a product to the same place its already there you getting an error that "you can't copy the product to the same category". Why would you want to repeatedly click the button? Actually, it made by a mistake, that how i find the problem/bug. Any help?
ryanf Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 delete it from the database using phpmyadmin and don't spaz out again. Ryan If I was crafty, this would be a funny signature.
pc1 Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 delete it from the database using phpmyadmin and don't spaz out again. I can delete it from the admin panel or from phpmyadmin. This is not the issue. The issue is that we have a bug in the system. Deleting a problem is not a solution.
billybrag Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 delete it from the database using phpmyadmin and don't spaz out again. LOL "because it'll hurt more"- the greatest film of all time?
ryanf Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I meant don't spaz out again by hitting the submit button 30 times. the application can't play babysitter too. If I was crafty, this would be a funny signature.
GraphicsGuy Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 In osc you aren't usually adding files to folders when you click buttons, you are adding records to a database. It's not going to give you an overwrite warning because it isn't overwriting. It will create a new record in the database. Just a word of advise. When you are at almost any e-commerce shopping site and are facing the submit button after entering your payment info, don't accidently hit the submit button 8 times. It will charge you (or at least attempt to authorize you) 8 times. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
Rob123 Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 PC1, If you truly feel that this is a bug... report it the bug section. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/bugs You'll get an official response from the team. Robert
