OK so I downloaded oscommerce but don't know what to do with what I downloaded.... How do I do this? I was told this was a good thing to use for my store but I don't know what to do. help :unsure:

Unzip the downloaded file, upload it to your server's document root folder or a sub-folder, and run the installation program by requesting http://www.yourdomain.com/[folder installed to]/install

osCommerce will run on any webserver so long as PHP and MySQL are installed.

 

Just be sure to download the Windows version for a Windows server or the Linux version for a Linux server. ;)

I have made web sites before but I guess I don't know a lot because I am not quite sure what PHP and MySQL are and how I know if I have that. I can do basic coding and I don't use stupid site template free web things but I guess I ahve a lot to learn! I hope I can figure this out, I need a good store for my art! :)

PHP is a scripting language and MySQL is a database.

 

Contact your host's support department and they can let you know what type of server you have (windows or linux) and whether php and mysql are installed.
