Daemonj Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Unzip the downloaded file, upload it to your server's document root folder or a sub-folder, and run the installation program by requesting http://www.yourdomain.com/[folder installed to]/install "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. amcfoto Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 can I use this with any server? I use Omnis.com... hopefully it works...
Daemonj Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 osCommerce will run on any webserver so long as PHP and MySQL are installed. Just be sure to download the Windows version for a Windows server or the Linux version for a Linux server. ;) "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. amcfoto Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 I have made web sites before but I guess I don't know a lot because I am not quite sure what PHP and MySQL are and how I know if I have that. I can do basic coding and I don't use stupid site template free web things but I guess I ahve a lot to learn! I hope I can figure this out, I need a good store for my art! :)
Daemonj Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 PHP is a scripting language and MySQL is a database. Contact your host's support department and they can let you know what type of server you have (windows or linux) and whether php and mysql are installed.
