eddyxp Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Hello there community =) I have been working on my site much (www.kicksoutlet.com) and have just seen how everything is much easier. I have already inserted over 400 products into my database and dont want to loose them because i want to start from scratch. Is there a way i can back up my products? I need to reinsert them with the new setup once its done, please help!
eddyxp Posted June 21, 2004 Author Posted June 21, 2004 Thankx the bear, did that already =) I just thought that kept the customer database and all that, and not the product. So this backs up all my product listings? all i have to do is save the images correct? Please let me know so i can erase oscommerce and start from scratch. Also, how would i implement the products once i have osCommerce the way i want it?
Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 you need to download your database to your local system if you are wanting to keep the info. what problems do you have with osCommerce as it sits right now? if it is program errors, you can reload the programs, without touching the database
eddyxp Posted June 21, 2004 Author Posted June 21, 2004 Hey mibble =) I just want to start from scratch because ive messed iwth the code too much and my webspace is real messy. The only thing i have to retain is my Products. Ive backed up the database, now i will download it to my local drive and will erase everything, including the mysql database on the server, and start from scratch. Is that possible?
Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 yes you can do that, however i would just copy the code back to the server, this way you dont lose the database, just make sure you rename the online configure.php files to something else, then copy the whole catalog up and say yes to overwrite all. then copy your renamed configure.php files back to original, and you are up with a generic store and the database info is still there.
