Potential Major Problem

This is my second OSCommerce designed shop. I didn't come across this problem on the first shop as it is available only in english. The second shop is being built for a company which makes its goods in Guatemala, but primarily sells to the English speaking world. However, since they are a bilingual company, I thought I would leave the capabilities of having a Spanish Language version on the installation, but have not added any functionality to the Spanish pages. Today, while talking to my client, I discovered she was unable to reach the site via the browser from her office in Guatemala. The browser is set to run in Spanish and they are on a server which is located in Central America. As a result, they get an error message.

Warning: main(includes/languages/espanol/header_tags.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/languages/espanol/header_tags.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php')

I don't have a problem reaching the site using an English Language browser from the U.S. so, I am left to surmise that the Spanish Browser/Server combination is gives preference to choosing the Spanish Language files when contacting the server. Is this correct? In my case, since the Spanish files are not set up properly, they result in the error. How can I avoid this problem?

1. I could just remove the Spanish files completely. (I would rather not, as I might need them 6 months from now.)

2. I might find code which would only load the english files. Does such code exist?

Has anyone had this problem or been aware of it? I am looking for suggestions before deleting the Spanish files from the server.

thanks,

I believe what you need to do is duplicate the headertags.php in the includes/languages/english folder in the includes/languages/espanol folder and if possible have your spanish speaking clients or someone else that speaks spanish help you translate the definitions to spanish. You will need to make sure that any contributions you add to the site have the appropriate language files in the espanol folder.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.
