shayrgob Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 I tried last night downloading and configuring php, apache, and sql using this tutorial: http://internetmaster.com/installtutorial/index.htm It is very crappy b/c there are a few things missing from it and at the end sql doesnt even work. So i just wanted to see if there was any other tutorials to use. thanks
Guest Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 what do you mean by missing items there? there is nothing missing in there, in fact i use that as a reference for all my customers who want to install on their own and they can do it in about 45 minutes, including downloading, just following the instructions completely. what kind of problem are you having in understand the instruction?
shayrgob Posted June 20, 2004 Author Posted June 20, 2004 On THIS page http://internetmaster.com/installtutorial/...igure_mysql.htm for example he says you will need the unroot text file, but he never says for what. There is no step on what to do with this text file. and when i typed this into the cmd -type this mysql -u your_username -p mysql < unroot.txt password: your_password it told me that it was an uknown file or whatever. It was also not specified if i was supposed to use my username and password in this fields or just leave them as "your_username" and "your_password". Are you able to explain this page indepth? Or do you know of any sites that do? Thanks
Guest Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Have a look at that page again. You are writing that you can't see any unroot.txt file but there is a link from that page that you are quoting to exactly that file!! I am writing that link here right now: unroot.txt When someone writes your_username your_password it means that YOU have to use or make an username for that very point installing. It would be a security breach if you would install exactly like the writer says you would have to. So you use something like user:usermysql123 password:blablahyoudontknow. It is up to YOU. Anyway if you have got more question about the install than you should ask there in the forums instead of here... after all this is about oscommerce :) Regards Richard <_<
