New Site In Production

Guest

Recommended Posts

I am working on this website for launch in late July.

We will be featuring products made in the usa or invented in the usa.

Award winning products from our association will be featured as well.

What do you think so far?

I haven't done the SEO and have to update a couple static pages....

Thanks for all comments.

I received a great amount of input on my last site - www.bythevineyard.com - and took 99% of the advice received. I am looking forward to hearing what you suggest I do with this one.

Thanks All!

Hi DAve

The front page is a good idea, giving access to the different categories.

There is just one minor issue regarding the links on the left hand side of the product pages, some of them turn white with the mouse over them, and some don not change from black. Also the links may look better white as the blue is fairly dark, also the links at the top of the page look good in white.

Also with the product info pages, the product image may look better without a border.

I have had a look at the site with both safari and mozilla 1.7 for mac Os X. The load time seems fine, but then I am on a 512k broadband connection.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Really nice home page - very inviting.

I'd stick to one font throughout (the one in the images).

Images have no alt text.

The navigation across the top gives a slightly odd squishing effect when I mouse over.

I tried a few categories but found no products.

Homepage link URLs end "&$sid" - an issue with quotes somewhere?!

And I'd make the logo a link to home.

Sorry to have so many comments - your site is in a sight better state than the one I'm working on!

Thanks Anna for the great input. Will begin implementing.

I haven't sone any of the alt tags yet... wanted to make sure this was the layout I was going to stick with.

The &$sid is supposed to be putting in the session id. If they haven't been in the shopping area yet, it hasn't been set.

Does anybody know if this causes a problem? I have hard-coded urls on the home page and was losing the session id and the cart was being emptied if users were in shopping and then went back to home page...

whew... just confused myself.

Is there a better way to do this?

Dave
