New Products Config

I just set up a store, and I input all my products on the same date. By default the new products get the info from the database based on when the product were input (current month) Some of the product are old and some new, but they are all displayed as "new products" because I input them recently. I tried to change the date in the database, but for some reason they are still comeing up as new products. Is there a way to only feature certain products as new? I only want two of my products to come up under that heading, but changing the "date added" does not seem to remedy. Any Suggetions . . .
