billybrag
i need some way of checking the traffic that comes to the site! what do you guys all use? "because it'll hurt more"- the greatest film of all time?
gazzzzzza
it depends what info you require hits per page? hits per site? ip addresses of visitors? what do you want? there are many packages out there that do things like this. best to speak to your hosting company about it, although if you just want a simple counter that increments each time a visitor hits your site then these can be done using php easily. i found one that increments only when a new ip address hits so gives an idea of how many different users you are getting'. just have a search on google. always here to offer some useless advice.... gazzzzzza
aha i getchya id suggest speaking to your hosting company. you probably already have this facility setup. most hosting packages provide some degree of web statistics. esle, im sure they could set you one up. mine has these on it: (all different packages that make sense of your log data in different ways) Analog Analog produces a simple summary of all the people who have visited your site. It is fast and provides great lightweight statistics. Webalizer Webalizer is a more complex stats program which produces a nice variety of charts and graphs about who has visited your site. This is probably the most popular stats engine available today. You have two options available to you. You can view the logs from your Web Site or the logs from your Ftp Site (if you have one). AwStats AwStats produces a more advanced summary of all the people who have visited your site. Latest Visitors This will show you the last 300 visitors who came to your site, and some interesting information about them. Bandwidth This will show how many bytes of transfer your account has done, if this feature is enabled. Due to system limitations this number may be lower than actual usage Error Log This will show errors in your site, images not loading, missing files, etc. This is very useful for debugging cgi scripts. SubDomain Stats This will show you Analog and Webalizer stats for SubDomains that are created under this account. always here to offer some useless advice.... gazzzzzza
i think webaziler is the most popular and here is the web address http://www.webalizer.com/ not sure if you will be able to install it though or whether your hosting company would have to (but you could try!!). mine came already installed so i never needed to install it. always here to offer some useless advice....
