lilithfiend
Hi everyone, wanna know if this is possible to do in osCommerce.. This is the scenario: We offer printing services to several companies. Each company will have several departments which will have individual usernames and passwords. When users from Company A log in, they will see products available to them. It is sort of like a partitioning system, another way to view it is to have mini-sites of osCommerce in 1 entire site.. Can some one please advise on whether this is possible and if it is, how do I go about it? I don't mind paying for customization service as well. wlpywd
i am a complete newbie to osCommerce, but, maybe you could add the "mulit-stores" ( http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ch,multi+stores ) contribution and then define per store what each customer gets to see? i'm not sure how many customers you have, i.e if you had many many customers, this would get to be a pain to re-set up an entire catalog per EACH user, and each user would then need their own store url (which you could simply password protect with an .htaccess file per each store if you needed passwords for each domain) -- but a solution if each customer would only need access for either a short time, or if you don't have a huge number of customers. If you know about the web, you could simply assign each customer with a subdomain to your site, or use sub-domains with a cloaker to point to your one site? such as user1.yoursite.com, user2.yoursite.com, etc. via the DNS settings (if your host lets you have access to those). As i said, i am a newbie to osCommerce, and my test site is up and working in a similar mannor, but, i haven't gone live yet and am still making modifications. So i'm not sure what complications you'll have with an actual site yet. Take this as just a suggestion, i'm sure SOMEONE out there knows a better way, just too busy to check these forums for you. I hate to act like i know what i'm talking about when i really dont, but, i have a similar set-up and a limited amout of users AND a main store with just a few 'items' for examples for random customers to see BEFORE they sign up and give me the info as to what level of store/price they get in their version. Good luck!!!
