wondernet Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 In the configuration of OSC I have set the emails for the 'E-Mail Address' and 'E-Mail From' to be the same. I have also specified the 'Send Extra Order Emails To' to a separate email address (different domain even. How, then, are the emails not being sent through to the 'E-Mail Address' when an order is placed, yet the 'Send Extra Order Emails To' email account is getting two copies per order??
peterr Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Hi, Have you tried sending the emails manually, outside of osCommerce that is ?? Peter
vasttech Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 By default order e-mails are not sent to the E-Mail Address. The way to get an e-mail is through the Send Extra E-Mails setting. Now for receiving 2 e-mails, you need to check your mail settings on that mailbox. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions

I thought the process was/is ... user makes order - OSC sends email to user and email to admin. The 'extra' email I thought was for secondary admin email account. If this is wrong, then this still does not explain the 2 emails. The email address the emails are coming to have nothing to do with the website, the domain, the hosting. The only time this email address is/was used is for the secondary email. Can anyone explain what *shoud* be happening, maybe this way we'll find the solution.
vasttech Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Customer places order, customer receives order e-mail. The store owner does not by default receive an e-mail (yes kinda confusing). Send Extra Order E-Mails allows a store admin to receive order e-mails. You can put multiple addresses in there if you would like. As for the 2 e-mails that has to do with the way your e-mail program is configured. I believe it occurs if you have leave copy of message on server set to true. Or you may have a mail forward setup on your host somewhere. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions

However, this duplicate email being sent to me is worrying. Through testing I thought this was due to my order, my email, and the 'extra' email in the admin section. But now my email is only used as a client order, yet I still get 2 copies. There is nothing in the email config that I can see would cause this (emails are deleted off server once downloaded, no forward exists, etc). I have changed the user account I use for testing to another email address, hosted with a different company, and again downloading through Outlook ... and again I get 2 emails, this time to the new address. Could it be to do with the setup of the 'email options' in the admin/config table?? I have changed to this; E-Mail Transport Method = sendmail E-Mail Linefeeds = CRLF Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails = false Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS = false Send E-Mails = true It seems that changing the transport method from 'smtp' to 'sendmail' has sorted this ... strange!!!
