Guest
OK, I admit I am in way over my head. I only have experience with Frontpage, and I accepted the task of updating an OS Commerce site. Can anyone please tell me how to download the pages onto my computer using Dreamweaver, so I have a local set of file to edit? When I try to do it using Dreamweaver, under "Site Definitiion" it asks me for the host directory. I enter what I think it is but it says the connection is no good. How do I find the host directory? Guest
it would do you better off to learn how web sites work, how ftp works, etc, you will need to know all that and how to access the site. yes, you are in over your head. learn how the software works, read the documentation, install a copy locally onto your system, prior to even touching the other site. else you could lose it all and then there it goes. do you know how to work with mysql? do you know php? all things you should answer. and of course, backup, backup, backup. Guest
Thanks but that doesn't help at all. I wasn't asking about what I need to learn.....of course I need to learn a lot! Incidentally, I just figured it out myself....guess I'll just teach myself than rely on these community forums.
