As far as I know about osCommerce,... we just collecting data in several tables. Such as customer_cart and any similar purpose table as cart system.

After a years, the tables surely big enough (unless your store have no buyer at all tee hee). Do we need those old cart data?

Maybe in next release we can set a period of time just like an accounting way.

Old data summarized, and then emptying the table. I think sales report contribution is a good Idea to implement too.

I have no idea wheter this can increasing performance or not. Just a guess... It should be better selecting data from tiny table than selecting from huge table right?

So what the expert would say?

Please could you explain what you are asking a bit better?

I do not understand?

You are saying that there is too much data and you would like to remove the old people?

always here to offer some useless advice....

:D I am sorry ...

I don't mean to remove the old people. But we summarize content of shopping cart, then emptying the customer shopping cart (what they buy from us).

Summarize the cart table, then emptying it in certain period.

Did I get myself clear? :P

when an order is confirmed, data in the customers basket is removed

this prevents it getting very full - unless people add stuff to the basket then dont buy it, and leave the site

do select * from customers_basket

in your database - you will see how much data is in there

i think this is what you are asking about

please correct me if i am wrong
