Seach Strings & Manufacturer Drop Down

Hi guys,

 

I'm wondering if you guys are having the same problems as I am. If you have ever duplicated a product for 2 different categories, the products show up twice on manufactuer's drop down as well as search and advanced search. I'm wondering if someone would be willing to help code a fix for this.

 

Here's the problem that I have and hopefully a solution someone may find. Using easypopulate first of all you must input a model #, second I have some products that belong into three different subcategories.

 

Here's an exagerated Example:

 

Movie: Monsters Inc

Model # DVD00000001

 

DVDS:

- Action

- Drama

- Comedy

 

So from here I would copy the movie into all 3 categories using the second copy as model # DVD00000001-2 and 3rd copy as model # DVD00000001-3. But when doing a manufacturer's drop down link, search or advanced search using movie title or model number for monsters inc all 3 would show up.

 

Does anyone happen to know what to code so that any copy in these areas won't show up?

 

One thing that just came to mind is product_notifications, specials, duplicate_stock, reviews would then have a problem. Anyone know a solution besides making a category of it's own which is pointless?
