Backup Timeout

Hi

 

I am trying to do a GZIP backup of a very large and busy site. I expect the GZIP fill to be around 5MB

 

When I perfrm a backup from within OsCommerce all goes well and then the browsers tries to load

 

http://www.mydomain.com/admin/backup.php?action=backupnow

 

and the whole process stops and displays page cannot be displayed.

 

This never happened when the GZIP file was around 1MB

 

Anyone suggest anything as I need to data to move the site to a new server.

 

I do not have access to the SQL datafiles - only through OSCommerce

I read somewhere that there is a 4MB limit on backups using OsCommerece. Could this be the problem ?

Is GZIP the best way to run a backup or does ZIP compress it more. I still seem to be having problems with timeout before the backup completes
