Bosswonk
I've been having trouble getting past the initial installation phase of osCommerce. Since there seemed to be a problem getting the right name for my 'Database Server', I sent an e-mail to my hosting company for help. They suggested doing the install from their 'Fantastico' suite and letting the auto-install do the work for me. I did that. On the install form for osCommerce is a space where I had to fill in the directory where I wanted osCommerce to be put. I filled in 'public_html'. Now, when I open a page in the osCommerce Admin area, for example 'Payment Modules', I see a path like this: Directory: /home/bosswonk/public_html/public_html/includes/modules/payment/ WHY would there be an extra 'public_html' folder??? In addition to that, I use Advanced Merchants as my processor and downloaded the driver files and ftp'd them to the folders and files where they needed to go. However, they still don't show up in the list of processors to choose from. I have e-mailed the contributor, D. Ferrise, week before last for help and he still not responded. I have tried using the installation instructions from Wiki docs and those from my hosting service. So far neither has worked for me. Will somebody, please, tell me with specificity, what I need to do to get past this install phase.

WalterL
public_html is your main directory. They simply want a directory name to place after that. Like 'MyShop'
241
/home/bosswonk/public_html/ is the path to your root directory, then you have chosen to call your directory public_html as well which means that say yuor site was www.bosswonk.com then your store would be www.bosswonk.com/public_html/ you can rename the directory and change the name in the configure.php files if you want. Bosswonk
I appreciate someone finally posting a reply to my dilemma, however, I gave up on osCommerce about two months ago. I could never get a response from the person that wrote the Advanced Merchant Solutions payment module. Since I don't have a working knowledge of PHP and there is no accountable tech support, it didn't take me long to see I was dead in the water. PayPal has a free shopping cart and I was able to figure that one out so, I'll look at osCommerce later, when I have more time to kill.
