Guest Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 Hi there I'm looking for a volunteer (or volunteers to test out my "create account" sections in BOTH the normal customer registration and the affiliate programme. It's just that , so far, I've had TWO potential customers email me to say that the registration isn't working. :( These two customers are from the USA.....I'm based in the UK.....I don't know if there's any relevence in that though. Strangely enough, I'M able to create accounts and log in easily. All I'm asking is could someone create "dummy" accounts for the customer registration and the affiliate programme. Obviously use false names and addresses. Please help.....I realy need to test it all out as its a live store and, strangely enough, there haven't been any orders for a few days. Simply follow the www link at the fot of this message. Thanks.
GraphicsGuy Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 OOPS Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
Guest Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 This isn't any funny biz. I genuinely need someone to test it. :(
GraphicsGuy Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 Sorry about that, the OOPS wasn't at you, I had not recognized what you meant about the link. I began to edit it and then got interupted. Then hit submit. Anyway, I am in the USA and just tested your create account and it worked perfectly. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
Guest Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 OK, thanks. Both customers seemed to have had trouble at the Log In screen ......both saying that it wouldn't let them in. Weird huh? Maybe its them and NOT the store.
GraphicsGuy Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 Maybe. I know that after I did the create account, I received the welcome email, then went back and it still had me logged in. So I logged out, and then logged back in. No problems at any step. And I just went back and logged in from scratch. Everything worked fine. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.

Guest Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 Thanks Paycheck. As a matter of fact, I found out what the problem was. I looked through the wiki docs and found that aol users CAN'T use a store if certain features are set to TRUE in the SESSIONS configuration......things like "Check User Agent", etc. I then checked my email and found that BOTH customers use aol. PROBLEM SOLVED AND A SIGH OF RELIEF FOR ME. :o Special thanks to everyone who tested the create account thing. If you want those dummy customer accounts deleted, you'll have to tell me which ones they are as I'm too tired to wade through the customer list now. :D
