Sending Emails

I want to send an email through the admin section to all my customers but one, is there an easy way of doing this. I really don't want to select each one individually to avoid send the one customer an email.

This is a dirty way of doing it, but I believe you could export her information from the sql tables, dump all of her data from it, mass email your list, then import her info back into the database.

If you use the newsletter feature of OSC to do the batch email, then you could make sure that customer's newsletter option is set to off.

is there a contribution available for sending emails or just the admin function??

This is the only customer who does not want to receive emails....don't really know why, we don't make our customer list available to third parties or send junk mail....they say they request this all the time from companies.

What functionality are you looking for that isn't available in the "newsletter manager" in the admin tools menu?

> customers opt in or out at sign up and can change their choice at any time.

> you construct the message content and then send it to everyone that has opted to receive newsletters.

> it sends an email with that content to each account that has opted to receive newsletters.

Newsletter manager uses the account email addresses so it doesn't require any additional setup and the opt in/out is a built in part of OSC's built-in account management.

If your other program uses the account email address too, then another approach would be to temporarily change that users email address to your own junk email address. Then send the bulk email. Then restore the correct email address to their account. The only drawback is that if that customer tried to log in while you were in the middle of doing this, they wouldn't be able to log in.

Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.

Why can't you use the built in newsletter manager to send to only those who haven't opted out of the newsletter?

If they didn't opt out, it's not your fault. They had the ability at account sign up and they still have that ability once they login.
