osCommerce

The e-commerce.

I have a new install of oscommerce MS 2.2 set up on a subdomain of my site and working smoothly with Authorize.net. (OSCommerce Rocks!) I set us an SSL certificate with Comodo that also seems to work fine. I want my customer's transactions to be secure, and am curious if the default method oscommerce connects to authorize.net is Weblink, SIM or AIM. (Obviously I'm a newbie.)

The first reason I'm asking, according to the authorize.net website, weblink is going away.

The main reason I'm asking is that I'm installing a second OSCommerce store for wholesale orders (selling website advertising, and a bunch of stuff that I don't want to offer on the retail store). I can use my Authorize.net account for that store as well, but don't have SSL set up for that subdomain. Do I need to stop being cheap and lazy :) and get the SSL for that subdomain as well, or is there a less expensive way for Authorize.net to process payment?

THANKS!

David,

If you have the same hosting company for all of your sites you should just be able to purchase ONE SSL certificate and use it as a "shared certificate" by entering the SSL location with the IP address such as:

https://64.45.232.34/~username

No problem. I actually just got my shared SSL certificate working with Authorize.net and it didn't cost me a penny. I go through HostDime.com and you can use the shared certificate that comes with the server for free. If you have multiple sites, they have VERY cost effective reseller plans. TONS of features, you should check them out.

Sorry to say, it did take me 6 hours to get it to work right with Authnet and configure the cart.

Thanks,

Brian
