Guest
I have a successful install running at the moment locally on my comp, and I'm just about to start tweeking and personalising things a bit , I remember reading about a method of setting up 2 catalogs in the same directory - so as to have a comparison version running for reference/error correction etc.. . I have only 1 live (www) directory running locally using apache on my machine currently so how would I install another alongside it please? I have tried without success by renaming folders etc.. but really need a bit more insight - if anyone can help? Thanks. Sean

If you initial install is located in /catalog you just install the second at /test or /?? give it a database and you are ready to go. You can do the same on a live site so you can make any changes you want to the /test site without worrying about bringing down your live store. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

In my live store, there is a directory like this: (store named "shop") /shop/pkg/catalog/install/ which when  Ok, is this what I use to setup the 'test' store?? Does it automatically set up under the live store?? Is it accessible to everybody on the web, like the live store?? Thanks so much for your patience with my ignorance. Guest
Hi Richard, yeah thanks for that, I installed the 2nd cart into a folder called 'public' and all has gone well, albeit I now need to request my main (index page) on the cart by entering the url: http://localhost/public/catalog/index.php whereas with the other installation at: http://localhost/catalog/ I'm not needing to use the 'index.php' part of the URL ? - I tried just entering: http://localhost/public/catalog/ to raise the 2nd installation but it needs the 'index.php' extension, otherwise: http://localhost/public/catalog/ just dispalys a page long list of the seperate files within the catalog folder. It's working OK using the index extension but why it can't work without that as the 1st installation does is strange. If you've any idea's on this I'd be grateful, otherwise I'll just stick with the longer url. Thanks. Sean
Guest
@ Denab In my live store, there is a directory like this: (store named "shop") /shop/pkg/catalog/install/ I believe your question is not relating to my issue. I'd reccomend you follow the installation instructions you have and then delete your 'install' folder after that. If that doesn't make sense then it shouldn't be a problem to find enough info regarding new installs within this forum. Sean

Sean Excuse me Sean, I apologize, I was asking Richard in hopes he could elaborate a little for a newbie, but I failed to state in my post that it was for him.
