msheno01 Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 I recently signed up with Globat and was not pleased with the service. After alot of thinking, I decided to make my machine the web server. Currently I have the following a machine with: Pentium 2.4 Ghz Cable Internet Windows XP pro One Real IP address I already have the site running up on my machine behind a router. Now my question is how do I configure the domain name ex "theman.com" to point to my website on my local machine? Is there anything else that I need to know before I dive into this? Thanks Moneer
msheno01 Posted May 29, 2004 Author Posted May 29, 2004 I am currenty with ipowerweb and will expire on June 16 th. So I decided to try globa which was a big mistake. I agree tat Ipowerweb is a very good idea, but I need alot of space, more than 1.5 gb. also they have alot of restriction aganist cron jobs various other things. I currently help manage a local website at work, with security and everything. I want the local server because it gives me the freedom to do anything I want with it.
