zareen Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 I have two oscommerce sites, and love them. Just thought I'd ask everyone out there if you all know something as great for a general website for someone who doesn't need the shopping, but wants to be able to put up pictures about their, business (actually its a church), and things like a forum, calendar, etc.
larkost Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 I setup a AngelineCMS site last weekend, and can recommend it highly. You can always go over to OpensourceCMS.com and take a look at what is available.
zareen Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 Thanks I was just looking at OpensourceCMS.com but can't tell what's good in there cause there is too much. I'll look at AngelineCMS. Any other ideas out there?
Guest Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 Have you tried http://www.phpbb.com/ or http://www.phpnuke.org hth :P
zareen Posted May 29, 2004 Author Posted May 29, 2004 Thanks Natasha, I'll look there too. I was also looking at Church in a Box, but it seems a little silly. http://www.emmanuelcrc.org/ any other suggestions, anyone, please post.
Guest Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 XOOPS is by far the best CMS available and it is free. http://www.xoops.org

It's opensource and it's FREE as well.. Oh yeah, and it also has forums built in...
Acheron Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Stay away from PHP Nuke. It is one of the, if not the, most exploitable projects on the net.
Guest Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 Stay away from PHP Nuke. It is one of the, if not the, most exploitable projects on the net. Yes, it has had its share of exploits, but in my opinion, this is because its also one of the most widely used CMS apps on the net as well (more potential targets attracts more hackers). Try NukeCops hardened version of PHPNuke. It's has a good team focused on vulnerabilities.
Guest Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 For a stable and much more secure CMS.. look at PostNuke. There are amazing modules (contributions) that you can use to really customize your site. Theme design and managment is only limited by what you would like to do, and like osc it has a really great support community. I have many commercial and personal site built with it.
