warminspirations Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 there are no .php files in my images folder only .gif files. I'm not certain there should be, but everyone keeps telling me to look in my catalog/images folder and change my permission to 777. Help appreciated. Tameka
vasttech Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 The images folder is just that an images folder. There should not be any php files there. What you need to do is check the permissions on the images folder itself. You can do this a few different ways. If you have a good FTP program, usually it will let you by highlighting the folder and then right clicking. Probably the simplist way for the novice who does not have an ftp program is to use their hosts control panel. Most hosts provide a file manager of sort. You can use that. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
warminspirations Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 i'm working in dreamweaver ultradev. I could check the permissions on the folder if I knew which file set those permissions and what folder that file was located in. My host only has a phpAdmin not a file manager. Tameka
vasttech Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 The images folder is just that it is a folder. It is located in the catalog folder. There is not a file that sets the permissions you have to do that through an FTP or your hosts file manager program. Dreamweaver Ultradev can not set permissions. Who is your host? I can not believe your host does not have a control panel. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
warminspirations Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 GoDaddy is my host. I called with a seasoned html'er friend and they said they don't have a file manager.
vasttech Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 To make it easy for you, you will need a good FTP program. Go to download.com and search for ftp programs. There a bunch of free ones out there. WS_FTP is a real good one. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
warminspirations Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 I downloaded Core FTP lite. Can I change permissions in this app? If so, how? I see the permissions listed to the right of the folders, but am unsure how to access them.
vasttech Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 I am not familiar with that program, but you should be able to. Try to right click on the folder, look for properties, or ftp commands, or chmod. Most likely it will have properties and you can click on that and change them there. Does the program have a help menu? Try looking there to see how to do it. osCommerce Knowledge Base osCommerce Documentation Contributions
warminspirations Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 can you believe that I changed the permission and uploaded an image and it keeps disappearing? Everything is gone, the description and the image. Have you ever encountered this? I think I saw it in another list thread.
