Guest Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 i was wondering if there was a way to configure my catalog so that customers don't have to log in to do reviews. due to the nature of the product, most people would be uncomfortable having their first and last names displayed. is there a module or setting that will enable people to use aliases and write reviews without having an account? thanks
johnk Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 Hi Alison, I'm facing a similar issue. On thinking about it a lot, I've decided to make people log in to write reviews. If you have open house, every kid and his dog will write some pretty interesting stuff for you to delete. It will eventually drive you insane, but by forcing people to log on, only serious contenders will make the effort. What you and I need is a simplified registration process. I just want people to supply first and last name, email and password. None of the other nonsense. I've already asked if anyone has made mods for this but didn't get a single reply. Looks like it's my next project. Let me know if you would like a copy, but it will probably take weeks for me to figure out the code before I can do it.
Guest Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 john- i'd definitely be interested to check out whatever you come up with, but i think that for the product i sell (adult toys), people will be unwilling to allow their first and last name be attached to a product review. i have no problem periodically deleting nonsense reviews if it means that more people are willing to put up real reviews.
