Problems with products category

Hello there...

After making a lot a changes into the php files... when I request information about a category that has more than one subcategory it displays the page in a wrong way...

Any Ideas...?

 

Another thing.... How can I remove those bars with sort kind of date and the Welcome message on the default.php? How can I put a large picture instead?
