Hide Categories?

Hello,

 

tried the search but got not helpfull results. I wondered if one can hide categories in the shop front or create invisible categories?

 

Reason: I am using a totaly different way of grouping the goods I sell but for a better overview on the admin site I would like to create extra categories that shall not be listed in the shop though.

 

Is there any secret key to write into the sort box maybe?
