Guest Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 help, this is a basic question but what are the maximum number of products that you can have in a store before oscommerce has a fit? I have just loaded a lot of products into one of my categories and the whole shop has slowed down so badly so I am after suggestions here?
johnk Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 The number of products is subject to your disc size. A few thousand should be okay. So how many have you added? I thought you would have told us. OSC isn't a thoroughbread, in fact it's not even a racehorse. More a Clydesdale when it comes to speed, but it should be able to handle the load.

Because it runs on MySQL and PHP it has a very strong engine. Also another great feature is the query capabilities with MySQL vs say and access database. AS for products the skies the limit and really depends on how much time you have to spend. JM Always remember, we need patience, guidance and most of all understanding. My Contributions
Guest Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 Sorry about not classifying this in the first place. Pretty much my problem lies in the product_info.php page on my website, it seems to take years to load, and considering That I have dedicated my entire server to this website, which runs at less then 0.4 load with at least 22mb ram free all the time i am confused. I am hosted at a major server farm in the US where the connection speed is quick for any other document. Is there anything I can do in the product info page that could speed it up??? Thanks
burt Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 Cache on Category Counts Off Image thumbnails contribution for starters. You can search the Forum for how to do this or consult the "Collaborative Documentation Effort" (link in top corner of this forum)
