upload images into own folder

ok i saw a post about uploading images to site in there own folder, im just wondering why? what does it do for me? do they load faster? why not just do it tru the browser in admin? im trying it i just dont know what good its doing can any one tell me ? thanks for any help

Just to keep the filesystem nice and neat....

 

Plus when you manually put them in their own folders, OSC won't be able to find them. IE it will look in the folder catalog/images/image.gif, when it is actually in catalog/images/carparts/image.gif.
