Cant access site, following error

Hi al of a sudden when tryng to access my site the following error occured:

 

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /public_html/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 19

Unable to connect to database server!

 

Also when tryng to access phpmyadmin it says unable to log in wron username and password.

 

 

Does anyone know what the cause of this might be?
