JSP and PostgreSQL with osCommerce

We are looking to possibly implement osCommerce around an already-built website, which is based off of JSP pages, and a postgreSQL database with users already built into it.

I have several questions. First of all, can you use Postgres with osCommerce? I've heard mixed results in this board, so I was just wondering if things had changed since those posts.

Secondly, how hard would it be to integrate my old users into this product? I have users who are already signed up with us. How difficult would it be to make it so they don't have to sign up again?

osC is written to use MySQL, you would have a bit of doing to get it working, be better off if you pushed the JSP to osCommerce, also importing the customers into osCommerce.
