E-mail Validation error

When I try to make a account or at checkout time I am getting the following error on the e-mail validation.

 

Warning: eregi(): REG_EMPTY in /home/.paint/percept1/perceptiongrafx.com/catalog_quan/includes/functions/validations.php on line 97

 

at the top of the page and in the body of the page this error shows up

 

Your E-Mail Address does not appear to be valid - please make any necessary corrections.

 

Any ideas would be helpfull
