loisgh
Hi Guys, I am a new freelancer. I have skills in many areas but right now I'm heavily into PHP/MySQL. I am building an ecommerce backend for someone and it was suggested to me that I use OSCommerce and not reinvent the wheel. I am a BIG FAN of Open Source Software. I just need to know more about this. Here are my questions: 1) How much does this cost? 2) Can I assume that forms are customizable or that we can use our own forms with the OSCommerce back end? 3) How do I get this installed on the web host or server that I am using? Is there a fee involved in this? 4) How long does this process take? Thanks Lois J. Greene-Hernandez

You can pretty much do anything you want or are cabable of doing. 3. Download the zip file, unzip and upload to server, create your database then run the install program. No charge if you do it yourself. The only fees are if you have to pay for help to do something ( and your hosting fees of course) I would check on what hosting you are going to get if you do not have a host already as it seems some hosting companies are not very friendly to osC and the things that are needed to be done to make it work or make changes. 4. It takes me less than an hour to upload everything and get it up and running. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right?? Guest
read the documentation on installation, etc, would be very wise in understanding more of the software.
