Changing the default Curerency to ? GBP

Can someone explain to me how to change the default currency to ? pounds

 

I have added the currencyand made it default but it keeps coming up as $ USD??

you also need to make the change in catalog/includes/languages/english.php

// if USE_DEFAULT_LANGUAGE_CURRENCY is true, use the following currency, instead of the applications default currency (used when changing language)
define('LANGUAGE_CURRENCY', 'USD');

change this to

// if USE_DEFAULT_LANGUAGE_CURRENCY is true, use the following currency, instead of the applications default currency (used when changing language)
define('LANGUAGE_CURRENCY', 'GBP');
