throwing a paddy Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I have been happily messing about with all sorts of things today, trying to get my site looking nice, then to my horror, when I went to preview it, I got nothing but this message displayed: Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Access denied for user: 'XXXXX_osc2@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/XXXXX/public_html/cart/includes/functions/database.php on line 17 Unable to connect to database server! I seem to have done so much today that I cannot honestly remember what I have changed to make this message appear...I believe it may have been something to do with SSL, but like a dummy I don't have backups of the file(s) I changed, so I'm really stuck on what to do next apart from uninstall the thing and start all over again. Any suggestions?
241 Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 try setting persistent connections to false in the configure.php files define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false'); also check your database information whilst there. throwing a paddy Posted May 20, 2004 Author Posted May 20, 2004 Thanks Steve....I had persistant connections set to true, but I still get the same error now that I have changed it to false. Another thing I have noticed in the admin/includes/configure file is that there is a password entered as follows: define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'XXXXXXXXX' That is a password that I have never seen before, and one that I would certainly never use...is this a default password, as far as I am aware I don't have a password to this area? Even more puzzled!
perpetual-burn Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 well if the password is not urs and ur getting a access denied error.. Im tihnking u should put the right password in :P I dunno, I'm really no expert but it would only logically make sense.

Even more puzzled! Methinks you changed it so as to post the config files here then uploaded the bogus file by mistake.
