Problem installing on remote host

Hi all,

I'm very new here. Just discovered osCommerce today and believe it's quite good !

However, I copied all the files to a web host. Then when I try to call http://[mySite]/catalog/install or http://[mySite]/catalog/install/index.php, I get a HTTP500 server internal error !

Anyone met this problem ? What did I do wrong ?

Thanks

Johann

There could be a lot of reasons for this. Your hosting company may have an old and outdated version of php, if they are Windows servers they not even have pPHP installed, or your site may not be set to 'High Security' mode (osCommerce needs High Security, not 3.1 or Low), and you may not have access to some directories that osCommerce may need to access to be able to install.

Have you set up a MySQL database? If you're doing a manual install you'll need to create a database using PHPMyAdmin, and then during the install osCommerce can populate it with the tables it needs to operate.

Basically you'd need to post some info about your server and its set up before you could get any useful help.
