Serious quantity problem

Can anyone help. My store has been live for months and now have developed serious problem. Despite sufficient quantities I recieve Sold message when checking out. Must have inavertently upset something though I don't recall tampering with the code. Been so long since I set store up, can't remember where everything is. Appreciate any advice.

In your store admin section you set a number, below which you get the 'out of stock' message. Maybe you've set this number too high? By default I think it is set to 5 items or less in stock.
