Guest Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 How much of a pain in the arse is this site? It's been a bit since I've checked back for updates or problems. We've had all our MS2 sites running quite smoothly, but wanted to check back on progress for next milestone to find this? What a nightmare. The navigation is as they say bassackwards, and the search function of the forum is horrific! How many possible results can one get for a keyword? I miss the old site. Just my 30 cents
Chris Dunning Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 Try clicking the "advanced options" link under the search for info on how to limit your searches. joeyjgarcia Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 baddalaskan I recommend that they give you a 100% refund and some cheese with your whine.
Acheron Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 the search function of the forum is horrific! How many possible results can one get for a keyword? It truly is but having worked with vBB for over 2 years, I can say that forum's search is no better. I can be sitting there looking at a word on a thread, then search for it, and I get "No Results Found." This isn't the fault of the osC team though. Perhaps a mod exists for Invision to improve the search like there is for vBB ?? Also, perhaps a forum breakdown like exists in the Contributions would help ... keep posts together a bit better and make for easier pruning/combining of posts. Just my 2 cents. ;) The documentation search is a whole other story. Just thinking about it will give me nightmares. As for navigation, simply save the forum homepage to your favorites and you have all you need in the top-right navbar. Skip the main osC index, I do. :) Overall, I get the feeling that the team isn't much concerned with the forums, etc but rather focuses on osC itself and the topics within the threads ... which is fine by me. I can live with mediocre forums if it results in an improved osC. :)
Guest Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Hey, tnx for the cheese chump. Anway, it wasn't meant to be a slam towards the osC team. I realize they have better things to work on, however the key to any successfull bit of software is being able to find answers to problems. If we can't do a reasonable search, it gets frustrating. Flame at will, but it was simply meant to possibly get someones attention that might actually be able to help get a real forum up here. What happened to the old ones? This was an upgrade? I use to be able to get detailed search criteria and solve problems in minutes. Now... why bother. Might as well read the encyclopedia. B
joeyjgarcia Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 I apologize. I shouldn't have said that and I don't want to create any enemies. Joey
