wolfd Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 Hi, just started with osCommerce as a new user and I'm suprised and convinced: easy to install and configure, lot of functionality...... I want to start to use it in a production environment, I'm looking for recommendations where to start to get familar with the product. What is the best way: 'reading the sources' or trying to read a lot of the forum topics or trying to set up different stores or ...? Yes, i know this depends on individually experience/knowledge, but may be there are some 'hidden' documents/hints/reports ? My background is Windows/Database/Delphi-programming and Unix/Databases with basic knowledge of Linux/PHP/Mysql thanks in advance Wolf-Dieter
nrlatsha Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 Set it up on a test bed, dive in, install and config, look at the contribs, browse the boards, look at the wiki documentation, search the boards. setup more, change code, break store, fix code, break again, learn alot, have fun, gotta run... 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine...
Guest Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 The best way is trial and error.......... learn from hands on experiece.
