♥Vger Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Yes, it's set up correctly. A few points - If I just input the address you provided I end up viewing your directory structure. The server you are on should look for index/homepages in a set hierarchy e.g. index.html then index.htm etc including index.php. It's not looking for index.php, otherwise I wouldn't have ended up looking at the parent directory. At the moment your login and create account pages are set to http not https. Most hosts provide for a shared ssl at no extra cost. You should check this out. If your hosts is one of those that wants to charge for a shared ssl, ignore them and get your own. It only costs ?49.00 a year now, plus you need one dedicated ip address. Hope this helps - Vger
Guest Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 :P Greetings from the Windy City Chicago, Congratulations and hope you have a very prosperous e-cart, I know very basics on php and mysql, I strongly suggest you purschase a php&myql book (for begginers) try to study how dynamic pages are done, because you will need to understand how include() functions work, that way you will be able to change the top portion (header) of your site along with the bottom (footer) and even add them to your own native site, this will give you a consistent feel. I read in the forum that it is very hard to change the entire layout of oscart, unless you do some hardcore programming, My topic is above yours and still i am having problems, see if you can change your logo?
♥Vger Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Sorry, I forgot to tell you how to alter what's on the homepage. Go to your osCommerce 'admin', then select Define Languages, and then select index.php. You'll find the text you need to alter in there. Any changes you make there will be reflected in other index.php pages further on into the hierarchy. Vger
Pattibear Posted May 18, 2004 Author Posted May 18, 2004 I tried your path to change the welcome page but I get an error that says cannot write to this file , anyone out there that can help?
agiftcodotcom Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Your Host has your back end protected so that you can't write to it. You either need to use your host's control panel (if available) or use an FTP program to load a file, open, edit, then save it back. If your host has a control panel, they are generally the easiest way to edit. You are looking for file... oscommerce/includes/languages/enlgish/index.php Contributions I used : Updated 06-13-04 23:42 ---------------- Vote on My Graphis Poll
