Guest Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 Our e-store is behind schedule in preparation for our launch, since I am having trouble getting things set up. Php is not my strong point, so I'm having several issues. 1.) I keep getting a message that says I need to set permissions to edit the files. Where do I go to do this? 2.) What file controls the main page? 3.) Is there a website that goes step by step through a set up process? :lol: Such a thing would be very helpful.

You need to get an FTP program and using that access the CHMOD command on the server and set certain files and directories to certain settings. Generally you need chomd rwxrwxrwx aka 777 on some directories and files to allow them to be written to. Refer the wiki documents as per da_bear's suggest. 2. The top text in the main page is contained in the includes/languages/english/index.php files and the same for other lanugages. Up near the top of each file is a command to "define main text" Just put the stuff you want, includ html markups, between the ' and the ' in that line. 3. Read the wiki and the online docs... a little bit of help there. Read thru the whole forum on the install topic, you may find reference to your specific questions in there.
