How do you display a friendly error

How do you display a friendly error after doing a quick find search if there are no results returned in the search?

Currently the page parses a blank page but I can't for the life of me get the page to produce a simple error message.

Any ideas? If this has been asked I apologise in advance but I couldn't find anything via the search.

Is it something to do with:

catalog/includes/languages/english/advanced_search.php

define('TEXT_NO_PRODUCTS', 'There is no product that matches the search criteria.');

And if so how do I define that this text appears if a quick_find search is done and the search term reveals no results?

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Please assist, the site is http://www.healthylifepharmacy.com/

If you enter John into the search form on the toolbar you will see that a page with a back button appears. How do I get that to change to my search result not found page.
