Hi,

I've brought this topic upbefore but everyone ignored me... its not like I didn't search the forums, I just can't find an answer there.

My images will not show, all across my store all I get are red x's. Yes the I have chosen the option for images to show in the admin, that's not the problem. Any other ideas ayone else had this problem? I REALLY NEED THE HELP! I'm not very skilled in php etc. so please explain in layman's terms.

THANKS FOR A RESPONSE THIS TIME.

The reason you're not getting any responses is that you're not posting a url.

Our crystal balls are out for maintenance right now.

Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux

Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

I'm getting the impression you're being sarcastic... FYI I didn't really ask for that..

I really need help and have gotten it here before without posting a URL. Looking at a bunch of red x's on a page will not take your or I any closer to figuring out what's going on (at least I don't think)

I'm really stressed at the moment and unless you have a solution, please don't make this anyharder for me.

Still asking for help! anyone with any valid suggestions or advice?

Do they show in preview mode ?

Did you check if the upper/lower/mixed case is the same physically on the server , as it's set in the database (when checking via product / edit) ?

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support).

So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?!

Find the most frequent unique errors to fix:

grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt

Did you upload the image files as you added the products or were the images uploaded first? I have had this problem when I tried to assign an image to a product where the image was already uploaded in the images folder. The file is written by osc but it is an empty file. Looking at the files in your site's control panel (not osc admin) may help -- you might find the size on all the jpegs at 0 -- if that is the case re-up the images and it should work. Also, the images for options as images upload to images/options -- had you created that folder and made it writable?

Thanks for the reponse guys..

I'm not really skilled at this stuff so

1) bruyndoncx - when you say show in preview mode what do you mean? All that shows up in my store is a red x where the image isupposed to be and the name of the product whose image is to display.

How do I do this?

"Did you check if the upper/lower/mixed case is the same physically on the server , as it's set in the database (when checking via product / edit) ?"

2) GNA - Yes, Product Image is set to 1 in admin/catalog/product listsing

3) Maureen - I uploaded the product images after adding the product files and descriptions.

How do I do this?

"Also, the images for options as images upload to images/options -- had you created that folder and made it writable?"

4) agiftcodotcom - I can post my code here if that will help but

How do I do this?

"You might want to go into your configure.php and make sure your images are following the correct path as well. "

THANKS ALOT FOR THE INPUT!

Posting a URL will help a lot, as it will let us see the URL of the image being looked for. One thing we would check for is whether the URL looks reasonable, or does it have a syntax error in it (something easy to do if you make a mistake in a configiure.php)

Then we can do some peeking to see if a file is there and, if so, what it looks like. Is the file corrupted? (Uploaded as ASCII, for example)?

You'll get much more and better help if you provide as much information as you can, with an eye towards letting others see the problem for themselves. Your descriptions may not be enough, you may have overlooked something or you might incorrectly describe what you have done.

I do software support for a living, and I always ask for a "reproducer". It makes the process much more efficient than playing "20 Questions".

If you want help, you have to meet us half way. If you do so, you'll greatly increase the chance of solving the problem quickly.

Oh, another tip. Try using meaningful titles for your posts. I skipped this one the first few times I ran across it because it told me that the author couldn't be bothered to describe the problem properly - I see I was right.

Hi stevel,

Here are some URL examples to look at for the syntax errors you mentioned...

This is the product page with the description and where the image is to show up

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?products_id=7435

This is the click to enlarge window

http://www.mysite.com/popup_image.php?pID=7435

I think I did upload my files ion ASCII mode what mode should they be uploaded in?

As I indicated earlier I started this topice some time ago and I ended up being ignored. I had a very nice description of the problem and I didn't even get two responses. So while I can see where you're going with that, and while I agree with you, let me first say I tried it it did not work.

If you want help, you have to meet us half way.

Lastly, I recognize that people here are offering their advice and time free of cost so telling me to meet you half the way is not necessary - I know that that's a given. I have offered to copy my code etc., so please just stop. Can we please stick to sorting out the problem and stop this little back and forth about what I should and should not be doing? I don want any part of it. Thanks for the advice on the images problem, that's what I need.

Very Appreciative

BTW - stevel, I don't want you to take this personally I thank you for your advice. It's just that if we continue on this path pretty soon eveyone is going to be adding their two cents and that's not what this forum is about... It's definitely not what I was asking for when I posted my topic here.

The links you post are not working.

To see how the folders are to be set, you need to go to the documentation and fully read the installation procedures, as well as reading how the configure.php files are setup.

if you still have problems in setting permissions, then you need to ask your host how you change permissions on YOUR FILES.

the Search is your best friend here. Dont post personal things to different people who are trying to help you, do that in a pm, as that will push people away. just a littie forum ettiquette.

Your problems are problems lots of people have had in the past so I know all the answers you are looking for are posted in the forum.
