order table and supporting php files

I want to add a few pieces of data about the recipient in my order process, among them, a delivery telephone number. I've added the form element so the user can input the data, updated the orders and address_book table, and edited the checkout php files. I've got it working so the telephone number is stored in the address book after the customer adds a new address, but I can't get the number stored in the orders table.

 

I figure I have to edit the order.php and checkout_process.php files, but I'm not sure what specifically to do.
